This map has been assembled for the Bay Area Bike Share Data Challenge. It uses the data set provided, along with the D3js library to show a voronoi plot of the current bikeshare stations to try to understand how the system is being used. The voronoi plot divides San Francisco into regions defined by the bikeshare station the space is closest to. Each cell represents the total amount of bicycle check-outs and returns over a 6-month period from August 29, 2013 to February 28, 2014. The darker cells represent bike share stations that have more activity and lighter cells represent bike share stations that have less activity. At this point it appears the stations near the Caltrain and along the piers get the most usage -- perhaps suggesting some demand among commuters and tourists alike.
